ChildCareEd is an Approved Sponsor with the Growing Futures Registry. ChildCareEd courses may be used for initial and annual training for those who work in family child care homes and child care centers. This includes directors, supervisors, staff, providers, and volunteers.

Pre-Service Trainings:

  • All North Dakota child care providers, directors, supervisors, and staff must complete one hour of department-approved sudden infant death prevention training prior to providing care to infants and annually thereafter. The state will only accept the North Dakota Safe Sleep on SIDS training.
  • North Dakota has a Mandated Reporter training that is required for all providers. They must take the state's course.
  • CPR & First Aid 

Director and Supervisor Training Requirements:

  • In addition to pre-service training requirements:
    • Directors and Supervisors of Child Care Facilities in North Dakota must have at least a CDA Credential with at least one year of experience in a child care center or similar setting.
    • Directors are required to complete 13 clock hours of continued training annually, including one hour of sudden infant death prevention. The state will only accept the North Dakota Safe Sleep on SIDS training.

CDA Training:

Child Care Staff Training Requirements:

  • In addition to pre-service training requirements:
    • Child Care Center Staff are required to complete 13 clock hours of continued training annually, including one hour of sudden infant death prevention. The state will only accept the North Dakota Safe Sleep on SIDS training.

Family Child Care Providers Training Requirements:

  • In addition to pre-service training requirements:
    • Family Child Care Providers are required to complete 9 clock hours of continued training annually, including one hour of sudden infant death prevention. The state will only accept the North Dakota Safe Sleep on SIDS training.

Growing Futures Registry:

ChildCareEd approved courses can be found on the Growing Futures Registry. Users may purchase approved courses through the ChildCareEd website. For Registry credit, please add your Registry ID number to your ChildCareEd account. Attendance data will be uploaded weekly to the Registry. Please allow a minimum of 5 business days for your completed course to appear on your Registry account. For ChildCareEd trainings not listed on the Growing Futures Registry, please complete the Individual Request for Training Approval form found on the training tab of your account in the Growing Futures registry.
