ChildCareEd courses are approved in the Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System (TECPDS) registry and accepted by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) for preservice, annual training, director requirements, and professional development hours.

Texas Director Credential & Director Training Requirements

HHSC reviewed ChildCareEd’s Director Credential program and determined that it substantially complies with the criteria in the Texas Administrative Code (26 TAC §§745.9101–745.9161) governing approved Day Care Administrator Credential Programs.

What this means for Texas directors:
Programs that must employ a credentialed director can choose ChildCareEd’s Texas Director Credential knowing it:

• Meets HHSC-recognized administrator credential criteria
• Satisfies Texas Minimum Standards for director qualifications
• Supports advancement into leadership roles across licensed Texas facilities

Additional HHSC-mandated director training supported by ChildCareEd includes:

Annual director PD requirement:

• Directors with five or fewer years of experience need 6 hours/year in management, leadership, or supervision.
• Directors with more than five years need 3 hours/year.
