ChildCareEd is an approved training organization recognized by the California Early Care & Education Workforce Registry. Our online courses are accepted as ongoing professional development for California early childhood professionals and support training expectations for licensed programs statewide.

Our courses may be used to meet California’s professional development requirements for:

• Child Care Centers
• Family Child Care Homes
• Professionals pursuing or renewing a Child Development Permit through the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing

ChildCareEd is also an approved provider for the Workforce Pathways LA (WPLA) Stipend Program, meeting the 21-Hour Professional Development Pathway requirements.

Important Note:

California requires certain pre-service trainings that cannot be completed through ChildCareEd, including:

• CDSS Orientation
• EMSA Pediatric CPR/First Aid
• EMSA Preventive Health Practices

ChildCareEd supports all additional pre-service knowledge areas and ongoing professional development, but does not replace EMSA or CDSS-required training.

Annual Training for California Child Care Providers

California requires all licensed child care providers to complete 15 hours of annual training each year.

ChildCareEd offers Registry-aligned courses across all California Early Childhood Educator Competency areas, allowing you to complete your required professional development online at your own pace.

CDA Credential & Renewal Courses

Earn or renew your CDA Credential completely online.

ChildCareEd provides the full 120 hours of CDA training required to obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential.

In California, the CDA Credential:

• Qualifies individuals for the Child Development Associate Teacher Permit
• Can be used as nine semester units toward California’s 24-unit Permit requirements

State Registry Credit (California Workforce Registry)

Because ChildCareEd is approved on the California Early Care & Education Workforce Registry:

• Your coursework can be applied toward annual professional development hours, licensing-related training, and Permit renewal (with Professional Growth Advisor approval).
• Course completion data uploads weekly when users add their Registry ID.
• Courses typically appear on Registry transcripts within 5+ business days.

WPLA Stipend Program Approval (Los Angeles County)

ChildCareEd is approved for the Workforce Pathways LA (WPLA) Stipend Program, meaning educators in Los Angeles County can use our coursework to meet the 21-Hour Professional Development Pathway requirement for stipend eligibility.
