Pre-Service Training for New Hires

These classes meet OCC requirements for new child care center employees and registered family child care providers.

90-Hour Certification – Lead Teacher Qualification

To qualify as a Lead Teacher in a Maryland child care center, you must complete 90 clock hours of approved early childhood coursework — 45 hours in Child Growth & Development and 45 hours in Curriculum Planning.

Our Director Training Program meets all requirements for centers serving 20 or more children as outlined by MSDE’s OCC.

Family Child Care & Large Family Child Care Providers

For Maryland Family Child Care Providers and Large Family Child Care Homes, our courses meet preservice and ongoing training standards:

• 24 Hour Family Child Care Pre-Service Training ONLINE
• 18-Hour Family Child Care Renewal Training

These trainings meet requirements in Core of Knowledge areas (Child Development, Curriculum, Health, Safety & Nutrition, Special Needs, Professionalism, and Community).

Annual 12-Hour Continued Training

Maryland requires all child care professionals to complete 12 hours of continued training each year, including 6 hours in Core of Knowledge and 6 elective hours. Our approved trainings allow you to choose from over 200 online, self-paced courses that satisfy this requirement.

CDA Bridge Bundles are designed for Maryland child care providers who already possess a 90-hour certification. This training program is to provide the remaining 30 hours of required training needed to meet the prerequisites for obtaining the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, aligned with MSDE and Council for Professional Recognition standards.
