ChildCareEd is an Approved Training Sponsor in the Missouri Professional Development (MOPD) System and offers comprehensive training courses that meet Missouri’s state requirements for child care providers. 

ChildCareEd offers convenient, online self-paced courses to help child care professionals meet their ongoing training needs and maintain compliance with the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) Health and Safety Training requirements.

Who Needs Training?

Training is required for all individuals working in licensed or license-exempt child care settings, including:

  • Family Child Care Home Providers
  • Family Child Care Home Assistants
  • Child Care Center Caregivers
  • Group Child Care Home Providers
  • Group Home Caregivers
  • Center Directors

Required Health and Safety Trainings:

To receive CCDF subsidy payments, Missouri child care providers must complete the following health and safety training topics:

Safe Sleep Training must be completed:

  • Within 30 days of hire
  • Every three (3) years thereafter

First Aid and CPR training is also required for certain staff roles.

Annual Training Hour Requirements:

Missouri mandates a minimum of 12 clock hours of annual training for all child care staff positions

Center Directors must hold:

  • A minimum of a CDA credential when caring for up to 20 children.
  • A degree is required when overseeing more than 20 children.

Group Child Care Home Providers must hold:

  • A minimum of a CDA credential

Missouri Professional Development Registry (MOPD)

ChildCareEd is an Approved Sponsor in the Missouri Professional Development (MOPD) Registry. Courses approved for MOPD can be located directly within the registry. Providers should add their MOPD ID number to their ChildCareEd account to ensure their completed training is automatically reported.

  • Attendance data is uploaded to the MOPD Registry on a regular basis.
  • Please allow 5–7 business days for training to appear on your registry profile.

DESE Office of Childhood

Missouri’s child care regulations are governed by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), specifically through DESE's Office of Childhood, which oversees all licensed and license-exempt child care providers in the state.

Subscription Services

With Subscription Services, you can purchase training hours at a low one-time cost. There are three tiers to choose from, depending on your needs:

  • Basic: Unlimited online training
  • CDA Plus: Unlimited online training plus all CDA online training courses
  • Instructor-Led: Unlimited online training, plus all CDA online training courses, and one Virtual Class each month led by a trained Educational Specialist
