Professional Development and Certification: Massachusetts

Early Childhood Educators in Massachusetts are required to complete annual professional development course work. Depending on hours worked and if you are in a family child care or center based child care, you will need to complete between 5-20 hours of professional development annually. Keeping in mind that ⅓ of that needs to address diverse learners.

H&H Child Care Training Center is an approved organization through IACET which means our trainings are accepted by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care to meet yearly requirements in the following Massachusetts Core Competency Areas:

Area 1: Understanding the Growth and Development of Children and Youth

Area 2: Guiding and Interacting with Children and Youth

Area 3: Partnering with Families and Communities

Area 4: Health, Safety and Nutrition

Area 5: Learning Environments and Implementing Curriculum

Area 6: Observation, Assessment, and Documentation

Area 7: Program Planning and Development

Area 8: Professionalism and Leadership

For those providers looking to become a Teacher, Lead Teacher, or Director, obtaining your CDA will not only provide you with one of the most widely recognized credentials in the field of early childhood but it will also fulfill your coursework requirements for the EEC Professional Qualifications Certification in Massachusetts. The CDA is nationally recognized and will seamlessly translate to any state. H&H offers the CDA online in the areas of Family Child Care, Infant and Toddler, and Preschool.

Online training offers participants a self-paced and easily accessible format to meet the needs of your busy life. H&H knows that your time is valuable and that is why we offer providers in Massachusetts the opportunity to complete their annual professional development as well as the CDA completely online. H&H offers online training in all of Massachusetts Core Competency Areas as well as a variety of training addressing the needs of diverse learners. Go to our website at www.childcareed.com to see our list of trainings and be sure to check back often as new trainings are added weekly.
