Mountain Laurel Playschool is a small, nature-inspired childcare program dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for young children. We prioritize individualized care, early childhood development, and close collaboration with families — all within a warm, community-oriented setting.

Position Overview:
We’re seeking a caring, experienced, and dependable Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher to oversee our youngest children (infants through toddlers). In this role, you will provide high-quality care, design age-appropriate activities, support each child’s growth and development, and help maintain the structure and standards of our program.

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

The following trainings are required
Pediatric First Aid Only Blended
CDA Infant/Toddler Credential with Portfolio Review

High school diploma or equivalent required at minimum.

Preferably hold — or be willing to obtain — the North Carolina Early Childhood Credential (NCECC) or equivalent, or meet one of the state’s equivalency options (e.g., relevant early childhood coursework or a nationally accredited credential such as CDA).

Prior experience working with infants and toddlers (preferred).

Strong communication skills, patience, warmth, and the ability to handle the demands of infant/toddler care (feeding, diapering, soothing, etc.).

Ability to comply with state child-care licensing requirements (background check, health/safety protocols, record-keeping).

Supervise and directly interact with children at all times — during meals, diapering, naps, play, and transitions.

Plan and implement age-appropriate daily routines and activities that support social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development

Observe, document, and communicate developmental progress and any concerns to parents/guardians.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment that meets licensing and health/safety standards (feeding, diapering, hygiene, sanitation, etc.).

Collaborate with other staff, support transitions (e.g., as program expands), and assist with daily routines, drop-off/pick-up, and parent communication as needed.

Compensation

Compensation Type: hourly
Minimum: $18
Maximum: $20
