The Department of Early Education and Care explains the importance and benefits of a Lead Teacher. “When a Teacher accomplishes a specific amount of additional experience and education, they become eligible to qualify for a Lead Teacher position. While all Teachers are qualified to mentor and/or supervise Support Staff, Lead Teachers may also mentor and/or supervise Teacher(s). In addition, the increased qualifications of a Lead Teacher build out the program’s capacity to provide instructional leadership to enrich staff competence, or assume program administration responsibilities, if qualified to act as a Director’s Designee.”
