National Maryland Day is on August 24! Did you know that One of Maryland’s nicknames is “Little America” because it has all types of terrain? Maryland has mountains, beaches, sand dunes, farmland, forests, etc. It also experiences a wide variety of weather and all four seasons.
The national anthem was written by Francis Scott Key, a lawyer from Maryland. Legend has it that he wrote the National Anthem on September 14, 1814, while watching an attack on Fort McHenry in Baltimore Harbor.
The United States Naval Academy was founded on October 10, 1845, at Annapolis.
On April 28, 1788, Maryland was the 7th state to enter the union.

Early Childhood Educators in Maryland are required to complete annual professional development coursework. The Maryland Department of Education requires that all child care providers complete 12 clock hours (or 1.2 CEUs) of in-service training annually.
Maryland providers who earn their 90 hours are qualified to become an Infant/Toddler, Preschool, or School-Age teacher.
