Texas Approved Training

ChildCareEd courses are approved by the Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System (TECPDS) registry. ChildCareEd courses are accepted by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) for preservice, annual training, director requirements, and professional development hours. ChildCareEd is a Child Day Care Director Credentialing Organization Recognized by Child Care Regulation. ChildCareEd is a TEA-approved CPE provider offering CPE credit to Texas educators. Our TEA CPE provider number is 910060.

Become a Caregiver

Find the Texas-approved training you need to work as a Caregiver in a licensed child care center. Texas requires 24 hours of pre-service training — 8 hours before supervising children and the remaining 16 within 90 days of hire — plus 24 clock hours of annual training relevant to the ages you serve. ChildCareEd's TECPDS-approved courses cover every required topic, from pre-service bundles to the full 24-Hour Texas Teacher Annual Training.

Become a Director

Become a qualified Director of a licensed Texas child care center. Directors must be at least 21, hold a high school diploma, and meet one of seven education-and-experience pathways — including HHSC-recognized day-care administrator credentials. ChildCareEd offers an Officially Recognized Texas Director Credential that substantially complies with 26 TAC §§745.9101–745.9161, plus the 30-Hour Texas Director Annual Training to meet yearly requirements.

Become a Primary Caregiver

Start or maintain your career as a Primary Caregiver in a Texas licensed or registered child-care home. ChildCareEd's TECPDS-approved training covers the 24-hour pre-service requirement, the Texas Primary Caregiver Qualification course, mandatory Abuse & Neglect training, and the annual hours needed to stay compliant — all online and self-paced.

Complete Annual Training

Caregivers in licensed Texas child care centers must complete 24 clock hours of annual training (at least 5 instructor-led), Directors must complete 30 clock hours, and home-based providers must complete annual training hours relevant to the ages of children in their care.

CDA Training Programs & Renewal Courses

ChildCareEd’s CDA training options approved to meet the Council for Professional Recognition requirements for earning or renewing a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential. Visitors can explore full credential programs (like Infant/Toddler, Preschool, Family Child Care, Home Visitor, and Birth-to-Five) as well as renewal courses.

  • Preservice substitute: Texas allows the CDA Credential to be used as a substitute for preservice training.
  • Director qualification: A CDA or CCP credential with 6 college credit hours in management and 2 years of experience qualifies a person as a Director under §746.1015(5). Note: all CDAs must be renewed every three years — directors qualifying via CDA must keep it current.
