Hey New York, how you doin’? Did you know that in the state of New York, in order to be qualified as a group teacher for an infant, toddler, or preschool class you must: possess either an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field, or have a Child Development Associate Credential and one year of experience related to caring for children; or at least 9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field? Seems a bit overwhelming, huh?
If you have a love for children, but are unsure of where to begin to fulfill these requirements in New York, let H&H Child Care Training Center help you! H&H Child Care Training Center currently offers 120 hours of the Child Development Associate coursework for Infant and Toddler and Preschool.
You may be thinking to yourself, “ok, great! But, what exactly is the Child Development Associate Credential?” The Child Development Associate® (CDA) Credential™ is the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education (ECE), and it is a crucial steppingstone on the path of career advancement in ECE. The CDA® is based on a core set of competency standards that guide early childhood professionals toward becoming qualified educators of young children. The CDA requires the completion of 120 clock hours of training in one of the following specializations:
- Infant/ Toddler
- Preschool
- Family Child Care
Over the course of those 120 clock hours, you will receive extensive information and training in 8 critical areas related to Early Childhood Education. Those 8 areas consist of:
- Safe and Healthy Environments
- Physical and Intellectual Development
- Social and Emotional Development
- Relationships with Families
- Program Operation
- Professionalism
- Observing and Recording Children’s Behavior
- Principles of Child Development and Learning
With a comprehensive curriculum like this, you will be well-equipped to be a teacher in a preschool or infant/toddler classroom in California. Consider the CDA online at H & H Child Care Training Center (ChildCareEd).
H&H Child Care Training Center (ChildCareEd) knows the value of the CDA which is why we are a CDA vendor and partner of the CDA Council. H&H offers the CDA completely online. In addition, we have CDA Professional Development Specialists on staff. Even if our specialists are unable to travel to your location, H&H (ChildCareEd) has relationships with specialists all over the country and we are able to help you locate one in your area to complete your verification visit. H&H (ChildCareEd) tries to make obtaining your CDA Credential as easy as possible.
