ChildCareEd’s individual CDA Subject Area trainings are designed for educators who need training in specific CDA Subject Areas or for those who prefer to complete their CDA training in smaller, more manageable sections.

To earn a CDA Credential™, candidates must complete 120 total clock hours of formal early childhood education, including at least 10 hours in each of the 8 CDA Subject Areas. ChildCareEd offers individual 10-hour trainings for each subject area, allowing candidates to focus on the exact area they need while working toward the full CDA education requirement.

CDA Subject Area training requirements include:

  • CDA Subject Area 1: Planning a safe and healthy learning environment — 10 hours
  • CDA Subject Area 2: Advancing children’s physical and intellectual development — 10 hours
  • CDA Subject Area 3: Supporting children’s social and emotional development — 10 hours
  • CDA Subject Area 4: Building productive relationships with families — 10 hours
  • CDA Subject Area 5: Managing an effective program operation — 10 hours
  • CDA Subject Area 6: Maintaining a commitment to professionalism — 10 hours
  • CDA Subject Area 7: Observing and recording children’s behavior — 10 hours
  • CDA Subject Area 8: Understanding principles of child development and learning — 10 hours

These individual trainings are a great option for candidates who have already completed some CDA training, need to fill gaps in specific subject areas, or want to work toward the CDA requirement in several smaller doses instead of completing one full 120-hour program at once.
