Courses are self-paced, available online, and include training options for multiple CDA settings. How do you get a CDA Credential?

To earn your CDA Credential, you must complete the required CDA steps, including formal training, hands-on experience, a professional portfolio, the CDA application, the CDA Exam, and the Verification Visit. ChildCareEd’s CDA training helps candidates complete the required 120 clock hours of formal early childhood education training aligned with the CDA Subject Areas.

Steps to Get Your CDA

  1. Choose your CDA setting
    Select the CDA credential that matches your work setting and the age group you serve.
  2. Complete 120 hours of CDA training
    ChildCareEd offers online CDA training options that meet the 120-hour training requirement for initial CDA candidates.
  3. Gain experience working with children
    CDA candidates must complete the required hands-on experience in their selected CDA setting.
  4. Build your CDA Professional Portfolio
    ChildCareEd offers CDA training options with portfolio review, allowing candidates to receive support before submitting their materials.
  5. Apply for the CDA Credential
    Candidates apply through the Council for Professional Recognition.
  6. Complete the CDA Exam and Verification Visit
    The CDA process includes a CDA Exam and Verification Visit before the credential is awarded.
