A Type I child-care center. 

This child-care center shall be licensed to regularly provide child care services for: (a) Four (4) or more children in a nonresidential setting; or (b) Thirteen (13) or more children in a designated space separate from the primary residence of a licensee.

Directors of these facilities may meet the education requirements with a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential. In addition, Directors must also complete the following trainings:

  • A six-hour orientation training course within three months of employment. 
  • Nine additional hours of approved training with the first year of employment. This must include one and one-half hours of pediatric abusive head trauma Spanish  training.
  • Fifteen hours of training each year after the first year of employment. This must include one and one-half hours of pediatric abusive head trauma Spanish  training every five years.

A Type II child-care center. 

This child-care center shall be the primary residence of the licensee in which child care is regularly provided for seven (7), but not more than twelve (12), children, including children related to the licensee.

Directors of these facilities may meet the education requirements with a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential. In addition, Directors must also complete the following trainings:
