Qualifications
The director of a child day care center must meet one of several education-and-experience pathways under 18 NYCRR 418-1. A common pathway: a bachelor's degree with 12 credits in child development and one year of experience as a teacher at a child day care center. OCFS Policy 17-05 establishes the criteria for evaluating a candidate's qualifications to fill the position of day care center director, school-age child care program director, or provider in a family or group family day care program.
Annual / Ongoing Training
Same 30 hours every 2 years requirement as other staff.

ChildCareEd offers OCFS-approved director and leadership courses, including the 30-Hour Leadership Bundle, all reportable to the Aspire Registry.
