Qualifications
Group teachers typically must hold an associate degree in early childhood education or a CDA credential, along with relevant experience. The Early Childhood Certificate Program is an OCFS-recognized credential that meets the regulatory requirement for individuals to qualify for the positions of infant/toddler group teacher or preschool group teacher in a child day care center (DCC).
Annual / Ongoing Training
Programs must show proof of compliance with the 30 hours of training needed in a two-year period covering the required topics. This averages a minimum of 15 hours per year, across 9 required OCFS topic areas.
