ChildCareEd is an Approved Training Sponsor Organization with the SC Endevors Registry. All ChildCareEd courses are approved by the South Carolina Endeavors Registry toward South Carolina DSS credit hours. 

PreService requirements for all child care providers participating in ABC Quality:

SC Health and Safety Pre-Service Certificate (15 hours). Visit SC Child Care Early Care & Education website for registration information.

PreService requirements for all child care providers NOT participating in ABC Quality:

A minimum of 10 hours of training covering the following topics:

• Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases 
• Prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Use of Safe Sleep Practices
• Administration of Medicine 
• Prevention of and response to allergic reactions 
• Building and Physical Premises Safety 
• Shaken Baby Syndrome 
• Responding to Emergencies 
• Handling and Storage of Hazardous Materials
• Appropriate Precautions in Transportation of Children
• Abuse and Neglect: Signs and Reporting
• Child Development

Child Care Center Staff Additional Training Requirements:

• six clock hours of training in child growth and development and early childhood education
• 15 clock hours of training annually

Child Care Center Directors Additional Training Requirements:

• CDA
• 20 hours annually:
  • 5 hours must be related to program administration.
  • 5 hours must be in child growth and development, early childhood education and/or health and safety

Family Child Care Home Operators, Staff and Household Members Additional Training Requirements:

• 10 hours annually

SC Registry

• ChildCareEd approved courses can be found on the SC Registry. Users may purchase approved courses through the ChildCareEd website. For SC Endeavors Registry credit, please add your South Carolina Registry ID number to your ChildCareEd account. Attendance data will be uploaded weekly to the SC Registry. Please allow a minimum of 5 business days for your completed course to appear on your SC Registry account.

Subscription Services

With Subscription Services, you can purchase training hours at a low one-time cost. There are three tiers to choose from, depending on your needs:

• Basic: Unlimited online training
• CDA Plus: Unlimited online training plus all CDA online training courses
• Instructor-Led: Unlimited online training, plus all CDA online training courses, and one Virtual Class each month led by a trained Educational Specialist
