Do you have any of the following materials lying around your house?

     ☐ Plastic bottles

     ☐ Foil

     ☐ Magazines and/or newspapers

     ☐ Paper bags

     ☐ Egg cartons

If you've checked off any of these, then yes, you can create art! Children can create unique pieces of art, even cute seasonal decorations, by using what they have around the house.

H&H Child Care Training Center's online course Open Heart, Open Art helps childcare providers create opportunities to allow children to develop creatively. When children are given open-ended opportunities to express themselves, art can be a powerful form of expression and is a positive influence in all areas of development, particularly in the social and emotional. We developed this course to help childcare providers describe open-ended art concepts and see how it benefits children's social-emotional development.
