Pick one pre-service training from these topics
Preservice / Orientation
All new staff must complete the DHR Child Care Orientation Training (CCOT) program. Assistant teachers must be at least 18 years old.
Alabama center staff must complete pre-service training that includes at least one hour from an outside source in required topic areas such as:
- Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases
- Prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Use of Safe Sleep Practices
- Administration of Medicine
- Prevention of and response to allergic reactions
- Building and Physical Premises Safety
- Shaken Baby Syndrome
- Responding to Emergencies
- Handling and Storage of Hazardous Materials
- Appropriate Precautions in Transportation of Children
- Abuse and Neglect: Signs and Reporting
Initial Training (First 30 Days)
Teachers in Alabama need at least 12 clock hours of training within the first 30 days of employment in required topic areas.
Annual Training
Alabama center-based child care workers must complete a 12-hour annual in-service training requirement.
