Provider Qualifications in Georgia (Family Child Care Learning Home)
To operate a Family Child Care Learning Home in Georgia, you must:
- Hold a qualifying education credential — a CDA, a TCC or Technical College Diploma in ECE, an Associate/Bachelor's/Master's Degree in ECE, or a Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate
- Attend the Family Child Care Learning Home Licensure Orientation Meeting (FCCLH-LOM), provided online by DECAL
- Complete 10 hours of pre-service training — 2 hours each in Early Learning Standards, Communication, Leadership & Professional Development, Business Management, and Advocacy
- Obtain and maintain current Infant, Child, and Adult CPR and First Aid certification
- Complete satisfactory fingerprint background checks for all adults 17 and older residing in or routinely present in the home
Annual Training (after first year): 10 clock hours of task-focused training each calendar year in health, safety, and early childhood/child development topics from a Department-approved source.
