Provider Requirement Levels
Iowa Early Care and Education Credential Providers are assigned a Level (1–6) based on their education. You need this level to qualify for certain state grants.
- Steps to achieve: Apply via the Iowa DHS professional development system with your transcripts.
Reimbursable Training Information through the State
- T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood Iowa: Administered by the Iowa AEYC. Scholarships for CDA, Associate, and Bachelor degrees.
- WAGE$ Iowa: A salary supplement program for providers who earn higher education credits/degrees.
Opening a Childcare Facility in Iowa

Training we do not offer
- Iowa Mandatory Reporter Training: Iowa requires you to take the specific state-authorized course (usually free on the DHS site).
- "Essentials" Preservice: This is a specific module series hosted by the state/Iowa State University Extension.
