North Dakota: Career Pathway Advancement

Have you moved up to a new level on North Dakota’s Early Childhood Career Pathway? You may qualify for a $625–$2,000 incentive recognizing your progress.

What is the Career Pathway Advancement Incentive?

North Dakota’s Career Pathway Advancement Incentive rewards eligible early childhood professionals who move to a higher Career Pathway category. The award is based on your most recent advancement. Awards are subject to eligibility and available funding.

Who can apply?

You may qualify if you:

• Have a current North Dakota Early Childhood Workforce Registry membership.
• Have moved to a new Career Pathway category.
• Work at least 15 hours per week in an early childhood program.
• Have verified employment in an eligible direct-care or professional role.

Support roles such as food service, bus driving, and substitute or backup care are excluded under the state’s current rules. Your employer must verify your employment in the Registry.

How much is the incentive?

• Advancement to Category B: $625
• Advancement to Category C or D: $1,000
• Advancement to Category E, F, or G: $1,500
• Advancement to Category H: $2,000

When and how do I apply?

North Dakota lists four application periods each year: January 1–31, April 1–30, July 1–31, and October 1–31. The next scheduled period is October 1–31, 2026.
