Supporting Breastfeeding Practices in Child Care

On October 1, 2009, a new law (Senate Bill 356) went into effect that requires all child care facilities and family child care providers to have a written emergency preparedness plan. The plan must cover emergency situations that require evacuation, sheltering in place, or other protection of children, such as in the event of fire, natural disasters, or other threatening situations that may pose a health or safety hazard to all children in care, including those with disabilities. H&H Child Care Training Center is a center approved Maryland State Department of Education Center that provides both the required 90-Hour Pre-Service Training as well as non-credit sessions for child care providers and parents of young children. Since 1999, H&H has been building linkages to learning for both providers and parents. Raising children is not easy and gaining the experiences and knowledge proven effective by researchers helps providers and parents get the cutting edge. For child care providers who want to excel in their work environment, we provide the 90-hour Pre-Service training for Infant/Toddler, Preschool, and School-Aged children. The 90-hour in-class training introduces essential information needed for providers working with children aged from birth to 8 years of age. Our instructors bring their own unique experiences into the classroom and follow and rigorous syllabus. Students who have registered for our sessions or pre-service training are always welcomed to come back and take the class again at no additional charge, provided there is space available.

In addition, H&H Child care training offers our online sessions in more than 40 languages, including Arabic, Spanish, and Urdu. Handouts are only provided in English.
