License/Registration Types

Family Day Care: small home-based program (typically 3–8 children depending on ages)
Group Family Day Care: larger home-based program (up to 16 children with an assistant)
Small Day Care Center: 3–6 children

Annual / Ongoing Training
New York State requires at least 30 hours of training covering the required topic areas every 2 years. This applies to all OCFS licensed or registered child care programs. Provider training requirements: 15 hours within the first 6 months of employment and 30 hours every 2 years in the 9 required training topic areas.
