Qualifications (§3270.34) — Must meet ONE of:
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education (or related field: child development, special education, elementary education) + 1 year of experience with children
- Bachelor's degree in any field + at least 30 credit hours in early childhood education or a related field + 2 years of experience with children
- Associate's degree in early childhood education or a related field + 3 years of experience with children
- Associate's degree in any field + 30 credit hours in a related field + 4 years of experience with children
Presence Requirement
A director shall be employed by a facility and be present at the facility site a minimum of 30 hours per week. In a facility in which 45 or fewer children are enrolled, a director may also function as a group supervisor.
Annual Training
Same 12-hour annual requirement as all staff. ChildCareEd offers director-focused PQAS-approved courses, including the 45 Hour Director-Administration and management/leadership courses.
