License Types & Threshold

A license is required by the State of Nevada for the provision of child care services to more than 4 children who are not related to you and/or for whom you receive payment. Family Child Care Homes and Group Child Care Homes are licensed based on capacity.

Initial / Preservice Training
All caregivers, regardless of facility type (including Family Child Care and Group-Home), must complete the same initial training topics within 90 days of hire and complete 24 hours of training annually.

Annual Training
24 hours of training must be completed during each 12-month licensing period in accordance with the facility's licensure date, with 12 hours specific to the age group served and at least 2 hours in Lifelong Wellness.

Registry Membership
All employees working in licensed child care facilities must become an active member of The Nevada Registry within 90 days of hire and maintain active membership annually.

ChildCareEd Courses Approved:
ChildCareEd offers Nevada Registry-approved courses for home-based licensees, including the preservice bundle and 200+ annual training courses. Hours post automatically to the Nevada Registry when the provider's Registry ID is linked.
