Qualifications (NRS 432A.1773) — A person responsible for daily operation must register with the Nevada Registry and meet ONE of the following:

  1. Associate's degree or higher in early childhood education + at least 1,000 hours of verifiable experience in a child care facility
  2. Associate's degree or higher in another field + at least 15 semester hours in ECE or related courses + at least 2,000 hours of verifiable experience
  3. High school diploma (or approved GED) + at least 15 semester hours in ECE or related courses + at least 3,000 hours of experience
  4. Current CDA credential (preschool, or infant/toddler as appropriate) issued by the Council for Professional Recognition

ChildCareEd Courses Approved:
Nevada commonly expects a director to complete administration training, such as the 45-hour Director Administration course. ChildCareEd offers the Nevada Online 45-Hour Director Administration Training and a Nevada Director Annual Training Bundle. ChildCareEd's CDA programs also satisfy the director qualification.

Director Approval
Nevada centers must name a director whom the Division approves. Directors must also meet the same background check, health, and CPR requirements as other staff.

Annual Training
Same as caregivers — each director of a child care facility and each caregiver shall complete at least 24 hours of training during each 12-month licensing period, of which not more than 3 hours may be CPR training.
