Course description:
Communication development for young children includes gaining the skills to understand and express thoughts, feelings, and information. Early childhood educators must understand that children communicate in a variety of ways and in order to support communication development, educators must include various types of communication in their practice. When educators include nonverbal communication in their interactions with children, they are able to address the needs of various learning styles, ages, abilities, and cultures. Learning strategies to incorporate
nonverbal communication in their practice, educators will be able to enhance the educational experience for a wide range of learners. In this 2-hour Zoom training, participants will be able to:
● Identify the importance of a variety of forms of communication.
● List examples of child engagement in nonverbal communication.
● Identify strategies for nonverbal communication.
