Provider Requirement Levels
- Level 1 (Child Development Assistant): Completion of a 3-credit course (or 45-hour equivalent) in child development.
- Level 2 (Child Development Worker): One-year certificate in ELCC.
- Level 3 (Child Development Supervisor): Two-year diploma in ELCC.
Required Training Courses
- Pre-Service: All staff must have a First Aid certificate and criminal record check.
- Professional Development: To access wage top-ups, staff must complete varying hours of PD.
- Mandated Topics: Standard Child Care First Aid (2-day course).
Reimbursable Training Information through the State
- Alberta Child Care Grant Funding Program:
- Professional Development Funding: Up to $1,500/year for tuition/books and up to $500/year for workshops/conferences for certified educators.
- Release Time: Funding paid to the center to cover wages while staff attend training.
