Provider Requirement Levels

  • Early Years Teacher (EYT): Holds "Early Years Teacher Status" (EYTS). Requires a degree and completion of an Initial Teacher Training (ITT) course.
  • Level 3 Practitioner (Educator): Requires a full and relevant Level 3 qualification (e.g., T Level or Diploma in Early Years). allows for unsupervised work.
  • Level 2 Practitioner: Requires a Level 2 qualification; works under supervision.

Required Training Courses

  • Pre-Service:
    • EYFS Statutory Framework: Staff must be trained in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements.
    • Safeguarding: Mandatory training on child protection (Prevent Duty).
  • Annual Requirements:
    • All Staff: Ongoing professional development (CPD) is required to maintain competence.
  • Mandated Topics: Paediatric First Aid (PFA) (must be a full 12-hour course for Level 2/3 qualifiers), Food Hygiene, Safeguarding.

Reimbursable Training Information through the State

  • Department for Education (DfE) Bursaries:
    • ITT Bursaries: Tax-free bursaries (up to £5,000+) for graduates training to become Early Years Teachers.
    • Employer Incentives: Grants (up to £7,000) paid to employers to support staff undertaking graduate-level training.

Opening a Childcare Facility in United Kingdom

Training we do not offer

  • Full Paediatric First Aid (12-Hour): The UK requires this specific 12-hour in-person/blended course for ratio purposes.
  • Prevent Duty/Safeguarding: While we offer abuse prevention, the UK requires specific "Prevent Duty" training regarding radicalization.
  • EYFS Specific Curriculum: Our courses are general; specific EYFS framework training is often local.
