This training is 12 hours of formal early childhood education training, covering the stages of growth and development of children age birth to 5 years. Child care providers and educators use milestones to ensure that children are growing strong and healthy. In this training, students will cover the following topics:

3. Approaches to learning and universal design
4. Environments that support inclusion
5. Cultural influences on behavior and development

Objectives / Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this training, the learner will be able to:

  2. Recognize the importance of knowing the stages of development
  3. Identify strategies for the child care provider that will promote successful child development.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for infants and toddlers with developmental, emotional, cognitive, language and/or physical needs
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of brain development in children birth through age three
  6. Demonstrate an understanding of how genetics and environment influence child growth and development
  7. Describe how language is one of the many ways through which culture affects development.
  8. Demonstrate understanding of cultural differences and its influences on a child's social behavior.
  9. Describe the four styles of parenting and the effects they have on children.
  10. Demonstrate an understanding of approaches to learning
  11. Identify learning styles
  12. Identify the factors that influence learning
  13. Identify the factors that influence learning
  14. Demonstrate an understanding of individualized learning
  15. Define the term inclusion and how it relates to the child care environment and practice
Learning Methodology: Online material will be presented in the form of slides, accompanied with speech. Videos will be used to demonstrate ideas and concepts. Charts and tables will be used for illustration.

Assessment: Learners will be assessed through questions after every section is completed. Learners will not be allowed to proceed to the next section of the training until all questions have been answered correctly. Learners will be presented with a final test composed of true/false and multiple choice questions. Upon successful completion of the training, learners will receive their certificate by email.

Core of Knowledge Awarded:
To be awarded the core of knowledge hours, learners must pay in full for the class, view all material, pass all review questions, and final test.
