This 2-hour training course is designed to encourage teachers to consider features that make learning materials more appealing to and usable by all children, with or without disabilities. It invites teachers to evaluate learning materials with the criteria for universal design in mind, and to think about ways to adapt learning materials so they are more usable by children with disabilities. Core of Knowledge Content Area: 1 Hour Curriculum/1 Hour Special Needs This course has been approved by MSDE Early Childhood Division approval number CKO-380. This is a 2-hour training for beginning and intermediate teachers working with young children birth to age 8. Teachers will analyze the accessibility of their own classroom environments and explore how physical, visual, auditory, and social aspects of the environment impact children's learning and participation. Core of Knowledge Content Area: 1 Hour HSN/1 Hour Special Needs This course has been approved by MSDE Early Childhood Division approval number CKO-380This 2-hour training will introduce beginning teachers to the connection between nutrition and healthy child growth and development. This training is designed for teachers of young children, ages infant to 8 years old. Teachers will explore ways to address good nutrition in the classroom as well as ways to educate families about the importance of their child's nutrition.
