Course description:

This course is designed to provide healthcare professionals with the essential skills and knowledge needed to effectively handle cardiac and respiratory emergencies. As a key element of resuscitation training, Basic Life Support (BLS) focuses on CPR, AED usage, and choking relief for adults, children, and infants.

Participants will learn to identify life-threatening situations, perform high-quality chest compressions, provide appropriate ventilations, and use an AED quickly. The course also highlights the importance of teamwork and effective communication in a healthcare environment.

After successfully completing the online portion, participants will attend an in-person skills session, which lasts approximately 30-60 minutes and serves as an on-site evaluation.

Students will need to demonstrate how to assess scene safety and responsiveness, activate the 911 system and AED, check for breathing and pulse, perform CPR for adults, children, and infants, use an airway device, and incorporate the use of an AED.

Upon successful completion of the skills assessment, students will receive a 2-year certification from the American Heart Association. Students must present their online Completion Certificate to the skills evaluator.

Intended Audience: Physicians, medical technicians, dentists, nurses, therapists, medical students, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals who require BLS certification.

Completion of this course results in BLS certification, a required credential for many healthcare positions.
